Abstract. The impact in the economy of the sexual customs of the young people barely has been studied. This article looks for to be a contribution to advance in the difficult objective to enter itself in the youthful mentality. Among others things, are tried to explain by means of econometric studies the sexual conduct of the adolescents and Chilean young people. In Chile they are born every year more than 35 thousand children from adolescent mothers, which corresponds to around 15% of the total of born children. Many of those births are fruits of pregnancies nonwished that a marriage or stable coexistence happens outside. This article looks for to be a contribution to advance in the difficult objective to enter itself in the youthful mentality in the matter of taking of risks (where the sexual relations without protection are an example). Among others things, are tried to explain by means of econometric studies the sexual conduct of the adolescents and Chilean young people. Finally, one concentrates in characterizing the situation of Chile, generating a diagnosis and culminating with policy proposals.
Resumen. Poco se ha escrito en Chile sobre las costumbres sexuales de los jóvenes, especialmente poco se ha escrito desde una disciplina como la economía. Este artículo busca ser un aporte para avanzar en el difícil objetivo de adentrarse en la mentalidad juvenil. Entre otras cosas, se intenta explicar mediante estudios econométricos la conducta sexual de los adolescentes y jóvenes chilenos.
En Chile nacen todos los años más de 35 mil hijos de madres adolescentes, lo que corresponde a alrededor del 15% del total de niños nacidos. Muchos de esos nacimientos son frutos de embarazos no deseados que ocurren fuera de un matrimonio o convivencia estable. Este artículo busca ser un aporte para avanzar en el difícil objetivo de adentrarse en la mentalidad juvenil en materia de toma de riesgos (donde las relaciones sexuales sin protección son un ejemplo). Entre otras cosas, se intenta explicar mediante estudios econométricos la conducta sexual de los adolescentes y jóvenes chilenos. Finalmente, se centra en caracterizar la situación de Chile, generando un diagnóstico y culminando con propuestas de política.
