Evaluación de agregados de anfibolita y pegmatita para la elaboración de concretos

En el presente trabajo se realiza la caracterización petrográfica, física, mecánica y química de los agregados pétreos que se extraen en la cantera Tritupisvar Ltda., Santa Marta (Colombia). Las muestras analizadas se clasifican petrográficamente como anfibolita (SM-1) y pegmatita (SM-2). El peso específico presenta valores entre 2,9 (anfibolita) y 2,6 (pegmatita) g/cm3. El porcentaje de absorción de agua están en el rango 0,64-0,81%, con mayor porcentaje en la pegmatita. Los valores de desgaste por abrasión de 29,78-39,66% para anfibolita y pegmatita, respectivamente, mostraron buena solidez. El contenido de materia orgánica es inocuo. La afectación debida al ataque con Mg2SO4 varía del 0,01 al 0,33%, lo que sugiere una alta resistencia en condiciones altamente corrosivas, aunque es mayor en las mezclas preparadas con anfibolita. La resistencia a la compresión muestra valores en el rango de 16,28-18,63 MPa para el concreto a base de anfibolita (SM-1), 16,34-17,89 MPa para el concreto a base de pegmatita (SM-2), y 15,85-17,70 MPa para el concreto a base de mezcla de SM-1 + SM-2 con relación 50:50, lo cual revela que el comportamiento geomecánico de cilindros de concreto es satisfactorio, aunque este material no puede considerarse como un elemento estructural. Los resultados encontrados permiten afirmar que los agregados evaluados son adecuados para la preparación de concretos bajo diseños de mezcla adecuados.
