Abstract

In order to make contributions to the problems generated by the depletion of non-renewable natural resources and the management and final disposal of wastes, this study was conducted; in which evaluated the possibility of treating electro porcelain waste (RCE), ceramic waste that contains significant amounts of alumina, for this case in specific 26.36% w/w, arranged in a raw material that contains two different amorphous and crystalline structures. In the experimental, It has been investigated the effect of parameters such as the concentration of acid (amount of water), the amount of acid and the concentration of solids, as factors that promote leaching of the RCE. From the experimental results, it can note that it leaching with a concentration 20% V/V sulphuric acid at 90° C for 3 h and with agitation speed of 250 rpm has been found the maximum extraction alumina which was 23.57% w/w. The product obtained after calcining at 6 h at 1100° C the final sample extracted from RCE, was α-alumina of 97.9% pure.
