Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most common surgical procedures worldwide in adult patients; This procedure involves the replacement of the hip with an implant whose objective is to restore mobility to the affected limb. The planning of the surgical intervention, as well as the design of the prosthesis are fundamental for the success of the implant. This paper presents a review of the planning, design and selection of a hip prosthesis, as well as the achievement of a personalized prosthesis that is currently possible thanks to additive manufacturing techniques.
