Abstract

In Colombia, the XXIV National Sports Games, which will be held in 2023 in Pereira, are an opportunity to this city to accept the challenge of implementing strategies for an adequate use and development of sports facilities whose legacy is articulated with the solution of the major social problems of the city. Therefore, the present investigation aims to identify the citizen perspectives related to the sports facilities in the games in question. A qualitative study was carried out with semi-structured interviews, transcribed and analyzed in their content with the Atlas TI version 7 software. The initial categories of inquiry were the knowledge and perceptions about inclusion, resilience, and sustainability that are related to the sports facilities that will be built and remodeled in the city of Pereira to host the XXIV National Sports Games. According to the results, it is observed that the inhabitants of Pereira have knowledge from which they can leverage processes that trigger the participation and empowerment of sports facilities and therefore of the effective public space of the city.
