This article is based on a reading of Claroscuro (2002), a poetry collection by Chilean poet Gonzalo Millán, regarded as the first installment of his Croquis trilogy. We propose an interpretation that takes into account the contextual antecedents underlying the text and shaping its construction, as well as the stylistic strategies deployed throughout the work. These elements reveal a deliberate engagement with the development of a visual poetics, fostering dialogic relationships between text and image. Through an innovative poetic language, Millán establishes the foundations of a poetic universe in which word and image mutually enhance and complete one another.
