Abstract

In this paper we present the asymptotic analysis for the ferrofluid flow between two infinite flat plates and generated by a rotating magnetic field. This analysis includes the effect of couple stresses. The translational and spin velocity profiles were compared with the obtained by Zahn and Greer and Rinaldi and Zahn. Our results were found in agreement with the obtained by Zahn and Greer. This analysis confirms that a ferrofluid flow can be generated by the only effect of a rotating magnetic field
