Abstract

This work presents an oil/water emulsification process using a membrane with a pore size of 10 microns. The results show that it is necessary acontinuous phase velocity of 0.03 m/h and transmembrane pressure of 150 kPa to obtained a droplet size of 1.50μm. This is how 0.042 kW·h are required to produce 1 drop/2.8 h·pore, which represents 96.6% less energy compared to the one needed using a rotor-stator system to produce the emulsion
