Magnetic nanoparticles composed of Fe:Ga were synthesized by sol-gel method trough a citrate auto-combustion reaction followed by heat treatment at different temperatures. Fe1.4Ga1.6O4 nanoparticles with a spinel structure wereobtained at heattreatmentsbetween 300 to 400 °C as demonstrated by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Size, shape and chemical composition of the powders by Transmission Electronic Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersion Spectroscopy (EDS) wereevaluated. These techniques showed that the average size of the nanoparticles was18 nm with a near-spherical shape and without secondary phases. The magnetic properties were measured by Vibration Sample Magnetometry (VSM) anda Saturation Magnetization (Ms) of 15.3 emu/gwas reached. The obtained results indicatethat the synthesized magnetic nanoparticles can be potentially viable for their use in hyperthermia treatment
