Abstract

This study investigated some of the variables of synthesis for obtaining an important zeolite in catalysis and adsorption industry: ferrierite zeolite. Among the variables investigated were the structure directing agent, the crystallization temperature, the crystallization time and the gel stirring time. The influence of these variables was studied using X-ray diffraction. It was observed that using ethylenediamine as structuring director agent was not possible to obtain a ferrieritic phase while using pyrrolidine and two days of
crystallization ferrierite zeolite was obtained with very low content of impurities. Obtained
ferrierite zeolite was characterized by XRD, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal
analysis, atomic absorption spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy
