Abstract

The objective of this study was to trace the profile of the Programa Bolsa Atleta Distrito Federal (PBA/DF) Brazilian Sports athletes to carry out a procedural analysis of the factors that make up the holistic dual-career model. The research sample comprised 25 athletes (13 men and 12 women) selected among the 70 beneficiaries of the PBA/DF 2014/2015.The main results of the research show that: a) the athletes did not show holdbacks in school, with a high rate of enrollments in higher education or their completion; b) most belong to the highest socioeconomic strata of Distrito Federal (high income and upper-middle income); c) parents have a high level of education; and d) the highest level of discontinuation of receiving the scholarship occurred among athletes in the student category.
