SOLIDARITY AND POWER IN THE ANTIOQUIA SPANISH PRONOUN ‘VOS’

This paper presents evidences on the occurrence in the Antioquia Spanish pronoun ‘vos’ not pronominal, called ‘vocative’. This pronoun occurs when between the partners there are strong links of friendship, trust, closeness, in short, relations of solidarity. However, power relations also use it to configure an asymmetry in which the issuer is superior in age, dignity, and government; in these cases the verbal ending leaves the preterit mark –tes (separate from Spanish Antioquia) and comfortably installed in the brand –ste (separate from standard Spanish, in which the desinencials you forms matches the pronoun vos). The fact that the vocative Antioquia vos sounds a little strange, or rather infrequently heard in everyday speech has to do with the suffocation of the regional talk –and within rural areas–are subjected by modernity, sometimes, or globalization, others.
