La evaluación de la biblioteca digital académica desde el enfoque teórico de la aceptación tecnológica

Este artículo presenta una investigación sobre la intención de los usuarios para aceptar la biblioteca digital académica en Puerto Rico. Se utiliza como modelo la teoría unificada de aceptación y uso de la tecnología (UTAUT) de Venkatesh et al. (2003). Esta teoría establece que la intención de uso está influenciada por cuatro factores: expectativa de funcionamiento, expectativa de esfuerzo, influencia social y condiciones facilitantes. La investigación se realizó en la Biblioteca Conrado F. Asenjo del Recinto de Ciencias Médicas (RCM) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR). La metodología aplicada al entorno bajo estudio fue la cuantitativa y el método de recolección de datos fue la encuesta. La población participante fueron estudiantes de las Escuelas de Enfermería, Farmacia, Medicina, Medicina Dental, Profesiones de la Salud y Salud Pública del RCM de la UPR. El estudio encontró que los constructos expectativa de funcionamiento, influencia social y condiciones facilitantes tienen un efecto directo, positivo y significativo sobre la intención de los usuarios de la biblioteca digital. Los resultados indican que el efecto de la expectativa de esfuerzo sobre la intención fue negativo y no significativo.
