Three new species of Danaea are described here: D. epilithica A. Rojas, D. macrophylla A. Rojas and D. moralesiana A. Rojas. The first species differs from Danaea nodosa (L.) Sm. by compact and ascending rhizome, fronds more developed, dorsal side of rachis with two side channels and without nodes at the point of insertion of the basal pinnae. The second species differs from Danaea media Liebm. by more compact and robust rhizome, fronds more developed, pinnae apex wider and entire and, veins closer together. The third also is related to D. media, which differs by erect rhizome (vs. creeping) and without pink resin, basal pinnae oblanceolate, long pedicle and cuneate base and, scales dark brown sacks. In addition, the species Danaea betancuri A. Rojas, D. inaequilatera A. Rojas, D. lucens A. Rojas, and D. tuomistoana A. Rojas, previously synonymized by Christenhusz (2010), are here compared with the more related species and their names revalidated.
