Abstract

The  first  record  of  Micoureus  alstoni  (J.  A.  Allen,  1900)  from  Colombia  is  a  young  male  captured  in  2001,  in  the Cordillera Occidental, 100 masl, in the village of Pacurita, municipality of Quibdó, department of Chocó, Colombia. The Previously known range of species in Central America extends from Belize to Panama and adjacent Caribbean islands. This first record from Colombia extends the geographic range of this species to the west of the country. The occurrence of the species in Colombia was suspected due to its presence in the San Cristóbal Island, province of Bocas del Toro, Panama, in the border with Colombia. M. alstoni is added to the other three species in the genera (M. demerarae, M. phaea and M. regina) previously recorded in Colombia.
