Primer registro de Sturnira thomasi De la Torre and Schwartz, 1966 (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) para Colombia

Un ejemplar de Sturnira thomasi De la Torre and Schwartz, 1966 (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae), capturado en 1996, es el primer registro para Colombia. El ejemplar (hembra lactante) fue capturado en la Cordillera Central, a 2.000 msnm, en el Alto de San Miguel, municipio de Caldas, departamento de Antioquia, Colombia. Esta especie es conocida solamente en la localidad de Sofaïa, Isla de Guadalupe, Antillas Menores. Para el trópico se tienen reportadas trece especies del género Sturnira; para Colombia se tienen registradas once especies, que se amplían a doce con este nuevo registro. Sturnira thomasi se asemeja a S. lilium, S. bogotensis, S. luisi, S. tildae y S. ludovici, pero las características principales de diferenciación son la fórmula dentaria 2/2, 1/1, 2/2, 3/2 y las medidas craneales, las medidas del antebrazo y la coloración.
