Aislamiento de Trypanosoma (Schizotrypanum) vespertilionis en murciélagos de la zona de Río Claro, departamento de Antioquia, Colombia

Entre enero de 1984 y enero de 1985 se capturaron 257 murciélagos pertenecientes a dos familias, 13 géneros y 24 especies, en el área del Río Claro. Se encontró que el 10.5% de estos quirópteros albergaban un tripanosoma que por sus características morfológicas, morfométricas y biológicas se clasificó como Trypanosoma (Schizotrypanum) vespertilionis.
Consideramos que este es el primer registro de la especie T. (S.) vespertilionis para los quiróperos Artibeus fuliginosus, A. jamaicensis, A. planirrostris, Carollia brevicauda, C. castanea, Phyllostomus discolor, Sturnira lilium y Tonatia silvicola.
