Abstract

The reproductive biology of a wild species, Passiflora manicata, was studied in order to use it to introduce favorable factors to the cultivated curuba, Passiflora mollissima (H.B.K.) Bailey, through interspecific hybridizations. The results obtained with hybridizations carried out in previous experiments with other species more related to the curuba are compared. Seeds of the proposed cross were obtained and the hybrid will be used in backcrosses with Passiflora mollissima.
