In 1983, with the commemoration of the 200 years of the first botanical expedition, the Colombian government created a special fund with the name of "The Second Botanical Expedition", to carry out research and work similar to those carried out during the First Expedition. Botany. For this reason, the development of research projects related to the country's natural resources was highlighted as a priority.
