Formaciones de pústulas y cavernas en corales del Pacífico colombiano por crustáceos comensales Brachyuros

Se presentan diagnósticos y dibujos detallados de Hapalocarcinus marsupialis Stimpson y Pseudocryptochirus crescentus (Edmonson), dos cangrejos que producen fuertes alteraciones anatómicas en sus corales hospederos (Pocillopora y Pavona) y que presentan una amplia distribución que se extiende desde el Indo-pacífico hasta el Pacífico Americano. Se describen los posibles mecanismos empleados por estos crustáceos para alterar el coral y “construir” de esta forma pústulas cerradas y cavernas. También se presentan datos sobre sus mecanismos básicos de alimentación y reproducción.
