Coccidias en aves silvestres

Se examinaro 122 aves silvestres pretenecientes a veinte especies con el fin de identificar las coccidias tanto del intestino como de los músculos. Ocho de once adultos de Turdus ignobilis estuvieron infectados con coccidias del género Isospora y dos de ellos presentaron quistes de Sarcocystis sp. en los músculos abdominales; 19 de 52 ejemplares de Columbina talpacoti presentaron infecciones por dos especies de Eimeria y una de Isospora y 16 de ellos con quistes de Sarcocystis columbididelphis en músculos pectorales. Al examen de muestras de sangre periférica y de impresiones viscerales se encontraron infecciones por Haemoproteus, Plasmodium y microfilarias.
