-Abstract
In nature it could be found a big diversity in pollen's sizes and shapes. To find out this diversity it was studied the pollen of more than 200 species of plants from the Valle de Aburrá and surroundings, specially the region of Guarne (Piedras Blancas). All the pollinic material used in this study were collected in fresh and were processed following the Erdtman's acetolysis method. The observations described in this articule are based in the microscopic and photomicrographic analysis, based in form (polarity, symmetry), size, opening (based in the NPC-classification) and pollen sporoderm. This study also share shortly the importance of pollen study (polynology) in plants classification and others applied sciences' fields, such as medicine (iaytopalynology) and criminology (criminopalynology).
