Características físico-químicas dos riachos do Parque Nacional Natural Gorgona, Pacífico Colombiano

Resumo

Os estudos biogeoquímicos em riachos naturais são escassos na Colômbia. Por este motivo, vários parâmetros físico-químicos e as concentrações de carbono orgânico dissolvido, nitrogênio total, fósforo total, cloretos e sulfatos foram medidos para aproximar o papel dos processos geológicos, atmosféricos e biológicos nas gargantas da Ilha Gorgona em períodos de baixa e alta precipitação em 2008. As águas superficiais são cristalinas devido ao baixo teor de nitrogênio. A litologia vulcânica, predominantemente basáltica e ultramáfica instrusiva, possivelmente determina a ocorrência de águas salinas (condutividade> 500 μMhos / cm), neutras-alcalinas (pH <8,5) e ricas em fósforo total (<200 μg / l). Os aerossóis marinhos são possivelmente responsáveis ​​por uma alta concentração de cloretos (> 2 mg / l). A concentração de carbono orgânico dissolvido foi maior nas florestas maduras (> 60 mg / l) do que nas secundárias e restolho (<60 mg / l). A baixa concentração de sulfatos sugere que não há entradas atmosféricas de fontes industriais ou vulcânicas, embora haja emissões de gases submarinos em La Azufrada. A perturbação hidrológica alterou a concentração dos elementos dependendo da sua natureza e das características das bacias.
