Influência do fator de crescimento de fibroblastos 2 nas células-tronco in vitro

O interesse e a necessidade de estudar células-tronco em terapias regenerativas têm aumentado nos últimos anos devido à sua capacidade de proliferar e se diferenciar em várias linhagens. Infelizmente, o número de células necessárias para um transplante bem-sucedido é maior do que o obtido diretamente do paciente, portanto, culturas de células-tronco in vitro devem ser realizadas. No entanto, com o tempo, as células dessas culturas tornam-se senescentes, diminuindo assim o número de divisões celulares e a capacidade proliferativa. Para resolver esse problema, fatores de crescimento têm sido propostos como agentes promotores da proliferação celular. Isso inclui o fator de crescimento de fibroblasto 2, que, quando adicionado ao meio, pode promover a proliferação e aumentar o tempo de vida das células em cultura. A revisão a seguir compila informações sobre a biologia desse fator de crescimento e o tipo de sinalização que utiliza, bem como suas aplicações na terapia regenerativa e seu efeito na proliferação e senescência celular.
