This paper is the result of a research titled “Cosmetic Surgeries: Between Lawsuit and Desire”, jointly developed by researchers from the Psychoanalysis, Subject and Society Group of the University of Antioquia; and the Clinic and Mental Health Group of the UCPR (Popular Catholic University of Risaralda) in 2007-2009. This article analyzes the consequences of a fact of structure, demonstrated by the psychoanalytic clinic, such as the hiatusness (gap) between lawsuit and desire, and explains how the field of cosmetic surgeries is a privileged area to put this to the test.
