This article aims to examine the profitability and indebtedness trends of small and mediumsized coffee enterprises in Colombia before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research employs a quantitative methodology to examine annual data from the integrated corporate information system (SIIS) as its main source of information, covering the period from 2018 to 2022. The results facilitate the determination of values for different time series within profitability ratios, such as return on assets and return on equity, as well as short-term and long-term external debt. According to the research findings, small enterprises were particularly affected by the financial impact. These organizations suffered a notable decline in their profitability indices and were forced to resort to an increase in long-term debt.
