Caicedo, Andrés, urban literature, adolescence, mass cultureAbstract
The following essay focuses on one of the main factors in the marginal quality of Andrés Caicedo’s literary works: his adoption of urban situations presented through teenaged characters markedly influenced by mass media and drug cultures. The connection and interrelation among this element and others such as his use of neogothic elements and his exploratory representations of sexuality and gender are also indicated.
