This article seeks to make a comparative analysis between the narrative of Jane Austen (1775-1817) and Soledad Acosta de Samper (1833-1913) through the novels Emma (1816) and Una holandesa en América (1876). Based on a comparative reading of the books, it will attempt to demonstrate how both novels are able to rewrite the ideal of feminine behaviour of that time, 1816 and 1876 respectively, by means of their characters behavioral model.
