This paper analyses the representations of the Thousand Days’ War from three tales by Efe Gómez: “Un padre de la Patria”, “18 de Octubre” and “Peralonso”. The tales are analyzed in their direct relation with the historic context, employing historiographical works. A critical posture of the bipartisan Colombian history is found alongside with the idea of war as a downfall and deadlock of the nation, and also an ethical way of thinking about the Colombian nation. Those elements show not only a thematic, but also a conceptual unity among them.
