This article studies the relationship between politeness and nominal forms of address (NFA) used by people in Medellin. A lexicographic methodology is used, in order to create a number of methodological criteria that explain the process adopted for information collection, implementation of the research tools, systematization and pragmatic analysis of NFA. The article also remarks that the same NFA may appear in contexts of negative politeness, positive politeness and discourteous statements.
