Abstract

This text analyzes the career of two teachers from the provincial net of São Paulo, who use diverse artistic expressions (literature, theater, visual arts, etc.) to promote their students’ education. In their written stories on their careers, one can observe how those diverse forms of artistic expression gradually became more relevant in their own education, and were therefore incorporated to their daily lives, including their professional practice. These teachers were chosen from one of the author’s study on the cultural education of instructors from middle and fundamental teaching II of the provincial net of São Paulo and their relation to culture, especially to art museum visits. Having the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu and his concept of cultural capital as the main theoretical frame, the aforementioned study intended to identify how teachers’ cultural education may favor a more fruitful relation with art museums
