This paper aims at accounting for the specificity of the psychoanalytic approach to psychosis, which takes into account the dimension of the Real according to the definition given by Lacan in his own teaching. To this end, it is necessary to redefine the approach to the subject of the unconscious in psychoanalysis, as well as its rejection in CBT, which seeks to affiliate to the discourse of the science and reduces the subject to a mere imaginary dimension. The consequences of recognizing the dimension of the real will be analyzed according to the approach to the symptom and its treatment. This paper is part of a doctoral thesis defended on January 9 2013 at University of Paris 8, titled “The Convenience of Taking into Account the Subject of the Unconscious in the Treatment of Psychosis”.
