From the (necessary) existence of god to the non-existence of the one: Spinoza and the lacanian negative

In order to discuss the problem of the notion of non-existence according to psychoanalysis, this paper takes up Spinoza’s thought, which is based on the necessity of the existence of God. It will be related to and distinguished from some psychoanalytic concepts, especially the ideas of negative and desire. Thus, the presentation will begin with some of the central points of Part III of the book Ethics. Subsequently, it will turn to the Freudian project to discuss the question of indestructible desire. Finally, it will focus on the problematics of the negative by analyzing the elaborations of the chapter “De la nécessité à
l’inexistence” of the Seminar Ou pire...
(Lacan, 2011/1971-72).
