Abstract

The research that gave rise to this article seeks to understand within the framework of nineteenth-century cultural policies the spirit that animated the construction of the first educational institutions in our country. We wonder what was the man's project that he entrusted to build education in the nascent Colombian State? From what conceptions of nation, identity, development, politics, culture, was education oriented in Colombia? The search for answers to these questions and the incidence of music and musical educational practices in culture will allow us to understand the social historical context in which the Santa Cecilia School of Music was framed, and the cultural impact that this project had on our environment.
