Abstract

This work collects a reflection on the tradition-renewal dynamic in current practice of "Colombian" Andean strings 1 based on the author's investigative, artistic and pedagogical experience. From the axes "cultural change" and "Andean traditional music, cultural policies" -National Plan of Music for Coexistence-PNMC, the crossroads of a musical practice that is debated as a valid alternative of expression and effective response to the needs and tastes of the new generations. Aspects such as world music, mergers, mixes, processes of visibility, openings-rediscoveries, "new exoticisms", real perspectives of the local, current dialogues between tradition-academia and spaces of power are woven into this discussion

Gustavo Adolfo López Gil, University of Antioquia 

Bachelor of Music Education, specialist in Art and Folklore, Agricultural Engineer. Researcher attached to the Regional Musical Values ​​group (Faculty of Arts, University of Antioquia), advisor to the National Plan of Music for Coexistence (Ministry of Culture).
