Abstract

The following article addresses a musicological analysis of the influence that traditional musics from the Colombian Atlantic coast had on Medellin society from the 50s of the 20th century. They have chosen the 5 coastal pieces for guitar by the Antioqueño composer Bernardo Cardona, since they are unique in their genre in Colombia, or at least in relation to a series of pieces or suite that addresses these airs and their musical elements. Mention will be made of determining factors for which music written for guitar in the city of Medellín has not been disseminated. In the development of this writing, some biographical notes of the musical profile of the composer Bernardo Cardona will be included. The methodological development will have a musicological aside, where some reflections will be collated regarding the issue of national identity that the coastal musics raised on their arrival in the interior of the country
