Valencia contra Unamuno: ¿Quién tiene derecho a interpretar a Silva?

Resumen: En la historia de la crítica literaria en Colombia, ocupa un lugar especial el artículo en el que Guillermo Valencia reprueba el prólogo de Miguel de Unamuno a las Poesías de José Asunción Silva. El artículo de Valencia es algo más que un ajuste de cuentas; es la legitimación de ese modo de hacer crítica literaria que caracterizaría el pensamiento crítico del país en la primera mitad del siglo XX.

Abstract: In Colombia’s literary criticism an article by Guillermo Valencia has a prominent position from which he attacks the Unamuno’s prologue to the José Asunción Silva’s Poesías. Valencia’s contribution is more than a settling up, it is the legitimation of his way of making literary criticism that caracterizes the critical thinking of the country at the first half of the XX century.
