Abstract: In this article Pablo Montoya Campuzano presents a poetological analysis of Un coro de ranas (1999) and Bajo la piel del lobo (2002) books of the deceased writer and colleague Jaime Alberto Vélez. The author founds his establishments over the work he presents; this refers to the most intelligent way of the skeptic creator in literature: irony. Irony and “restrained sarcasm” are the poetic strategies of the author here studied. The works of Vélez represent for Montoya an isolated case due to the certainty the poet puts in practice to show his ironic and sarcastic strategies in the frame of the fable and in this one, the critic to the massed society. Around this, the author emphasizes that the poet in his “coro de ranas” shows how the exacerbation of the senses corresponds to the annulment of the capacity of judgment and to the neurosis. Montoya analyses a poetic work marked by skepticism and distrust in front of the norm, control and blind action of the masses.
