this article explores the connection between religion and politics in the novel Luterito by Carrasquilla. We aim to observe the dialogue between the author and the prefiguration of the literary work with the narrative configuration of the civil war in 1876-1877 in Colombia. It tries to read the text based on contemporary considerations, with the purpose of making connections between the 19th and 21st century reality of violenceand social exclusion.
