Motivos y tópicos amatorios clásicos en El amor en los tiempos del cólera

La reciente muerte de Gabriel García Márquez ha vuelto a poner de moda todo lo que tenga que ver con él y está provocando un resurgimiento de los estudios dedicados a su vida y obra. No es este, sin embargo, el caso del libro de Manuel Cabello Pino, resultado de su tesis doctoral y publicado en 2010 tras un largo periodo de gestación que comenzó en 2002. Es decir, su autor tiene el mérito añadido de haberse embarcado en este proyecto a comienzos del siglo XX, en una época en que los estudios sobre García Márquez venían sufriendo un claro estancamiento (al menos en el mundo hispánico; en las universidades estadounidenses se le sigue venerando), ya que se le consideraba un autor “demasiado estudiado”, un autor del que todo estaba dicho ya. Sin embargo, esta monografía demuestra que todavía quedan interesantes vías de estudio de la obra del escritor de Aracataca que apenas han sido exploradas.
