This paper sets out an approaching to “El crisol” and “El ángel caído”, two short stories by Germán Espinosa. The critical reading is associated to the notion that the act of reading/writing is a dialogic act, in which writers exploit all the readings that are around them. The focus is on the way the reader/writer Espinosa presents a reading/ writing relationship with Jorge Luis Borges and William Faulkner in those short stories. The paper provides an innovative reading of one of the most prolific Colombian authors from the second half of the 20th Century.
