Jorge Isaacs. Vida, estilo y época es una antología de textos de Baldomero Sanín Cano compilada y prologada por del profesor Gonzalo Cataño, quien ha sido un incansable estudioso del escritor antioqueño. Además, la selección contiene textos de Sanín Cano sobre otros letrados y escritores, lo que permite comprender cuáles eran sus preocupaciones intelectuales y cómo se tejían sus opiniones frente a personajes destacados de un siglo a otro. De modo exhaustivo, en el prólogo de Cataño se asientan los criterios de la edición y se expone con solidez la manera como Sanín Cano se aproximó y de qué modo difundió la figura de Jorge Isaacs. Cataño examina cómo vinculó Sanín Cano la obra de Jorge Isaacs al movimiento romántico, examinando de paso las líneas analíticas de Hippolyte Taine y Jorge Brandes, quienes fueron sus dos principales referentes de estudio.
