This article explores Reverend Felix Restrepo's linguistic authority during the Colombian twentieth century and Francoism's influence through the censorship of the Spanish National Book Institute (inle) on Colombian literature of the twentieth century. Specifically, the text covers an episode of linguistic intervention in the Colombian literary field, related to the change of name of García Márquez's novel La mala hora (In Evil Hour) in 1962. The reflection area is critical sociolinguistics with a glotopolitical perspective, which requires attention to the relations of power and domination anchored in the specific political context in which the linguistic dispute occurs.
