The purpose of this article is to analyze Soledad Acosta de Samper’s perspective on childhood, through examining “Mi madrina. Recuerdos de Santafé” (1869), “Federico. Recuerdos de la infancia” (1870), and “El cura y sus sobrinos - Preludios de cacería” (1880-1881). Along with these short stories will study a short autobiographical text titled “Memorias íntimas, 1875” that recalls her childhood during one of the most turbulent years of her adulthood. The aim of this article is to show how the author contributed to the creation of the category of childhood in Colombia and how she was ahead of her sociocultural context, insofar as the children in her stories stand out for their voices and their design.
