Abstract

This article studies Colombian poet Porfirio Barba Jacob’s reception of Bolívar’s life and thoughts between 1913 and 1942. Our purpose is, on the one hand, to explore Barba Jacob’s plural lecture of Bolívar as a “carlylian” hero and, on the other hand, to problematize the profiles of Bolívar built by Barba Jacob during his exiles in Mexico.
