Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is presented as a tool for productivity assessment and classifi cation of research groups. DEA models based on super-effi ciency and cross effi ciency together with cluster analysis for this classifi cation were implemented. The proposed models were applied in the case of the Engineering research groups at Universidad de Antioquia.
