Ahorro y términos de intercambio de la economía dependiente

La parábola de la economía dependiente tiene una larga tradición. En ella ha jugado un papel significativo el efecto de la variación de los términos de intercambio. En general se ha considerado que un deterioro permanente de los términos de intercambio es perjudicial al desempeño de la economía dependiente. No obstante, tal deterioro tiende a elevar la tasa de ahorro. En el artículo se justifica teóricamente esta hipótesis mediante dos versiones del modelo. En la primera versión no existe movilidad de capitales; en la segunda existe movilidad imperfecta. La evidencia empírica disponible no permite rechazar la hipótesis.
