Abstract

Juan José Arreola was characterized by establishing dialogical links with authors belonging to his tradition and with those of previous literary traditions. One of these links was built with what was said by two other Jaliscan writers, on an endearing and decisive territory in his conformation as an artist: Zapotlán. Both in 1963 book La feria and in 1971 book Tres días y un cenicero, he offered an artistic look at that space, which condenses two others: that of Agustín Yáñez, from 1947, and that of Juan Rulfo, from 1953. This article identifies the senses that unite these looks.

Ph.D. in Letters from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico). Researcher at the Center for Culture and Communication Studies at the University of Veracruz (Mexico). She belongs to the National System of Level I Investigators. Her research interests focus on cultural practices, discourses of memory, social imaginaries and artistic work with language.

Daniel Domínguez Cuenca, University of Veracruz

Doctor of Letters from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico). It belongs to the National System of Investigators. He is attached to the University of Veracruz (Mexico), where he develops the project Reflexionario Mocambo, a space of production, research and reflection that explores the boundaries between word, act and image with regional identity. This project expresses its main line of research.
