REBELLION IN NGUGI WA THIONG’O: AN APPROACH FROM ANA-DIALECTICAL HERMENEUTICS

This paper explores rebellion in some memoirs, novels, and essays by the Kenyan thinker Ngugi wa Thiong’o. Through ana-dialectical hermeneutics, we endeavour to interpret social phenomena by moving the center of epistemic interest, in this case, literary and philosophical. The analysis draws attention to the conditions of mental and physical colonization to which the colonized peoples have been subjected in the theoretical-political framework of modernity, and to their attempts to rediscover their stolen dignity, which cannot be achieved unless we begin to include and seriously converse with other testimonies and epistemic legacies.
