ABSTRACT The concept of "Our American expression", in Pedro Henríquez Ureña, was born from a deep knowledge of Greek history and culture. Henríquez sintered and recreated that wisdom through art, especially literature, by writing a youth tragedy called The birth of Dionysos. In this tragedy, Henríquez portrayed his image of Greece, and how this culture influenced the construction of humanism that would lead to the establishment of a Latin American Utopia, founded in the rigtheous, intellectual work and in the thirst for perfection for a homeland of righteous and free men.Downloads
